Refreshingly different Zombie game

Have played a few zombie games.. this one is brilliant in terms of gameplay.

get it here

If your a fan of fruit ninja and other rapid swiping games, you can adapt those skills to a new gameplay.. here instead of slashing stuff, you have to avoid this severed zombie hand(all in gruesome 3d)! while you avoid the hand your racing against time.. so do pick up the glowy things.. they add time to the clock so you can keep playing.

The gameplay is actually quite easy to pickup and fun to play again and again.
The intro sequence needs some polish, but the game makes up for it in spades.

My honest scores for this game:

Game Graphics:✩✩✩✩✩ that severed hand is just awesome.

Note: i played it on my ageing Acer Iconia A500, it ran pretty smoothly.

Vega Racer 2 gaming review

A week back i acquired a korean android phone called the Vega Racer 2(heres that old post). the device’s specs were upto gaming spec(as far as non-tegra devices go).

so i proceeded to load up some of the games i’ve played on my acer tab before.. and heres what i found.
(note: i won’t mention games like Angry Birds.. since they obviously play on specs like this)
here are the specs:
Pantech SKY Vega Racer 2 A830S
-Android 4.1
-Dual Core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4
-Internal memory 16GB
-dimensions: 68.9mm X 132.4mm X 9.35mm
(4.8″ screen)
-screen resolution – 1280×720(HD 720p) 306ppi
-NFC enabled.

-AnTuTu Benchmark score: 10476 (identical to the Galaxy Note)

so heres what i’ve played and the respective verdicts:

ShadowGun ✩✩✩✩✩
Bombshells Hells Bells ✩✩✩✩✩
Modern Combat3: Fallen Nation ✩✩★★★

Racers and the rest:
Shine Runner✩✩✩✩✩
Trial Xtreme 3 ✩✩✩✩✩
Rail Rush✩✩✩✩✩ (i know its a Temple Run clone)
Highway Rider ✩✩✩✩✩

as you can see, i didn’t give MC3 5 stars.. even though i’m a fan of the franchise, and have played the preceding games.

this is because it had some serious issues.. but considering that games like ShadowGun,Bombshells and shine runner ran without issues.. i have to believe that the fault is not with the device but with MC3. a quick look at the comments confirms it, i’m not the only one dealing with these issues..

heres what happened:
Issue #1
the game would fc(force close) on launch.. after skimming the comments on the google play page i realised its an issue with “Force GPU rendering” .. basically you have to turn it off for the game to run :bomb: .

so anyway once you do this the game runs great! the graphics are impressive and highly detailed for a mobile game. here are some more screenshots from the Vega Racer 2

so anyway all seemed fine, and i was happily playing the first level when i noticed that it was becoming uncomfortable to control.. because my fingertips were getting hot! the game really pushes the cpu and gpu on this device.. so anyway i quit after sometime and went to the desktop widgets to check the temperature..

it was at +50˚C !!! :yikes:

need to do further tests.. but i don’t think i’ve had this heating issues with the other games.

Quick Verdict for now:
The Vega Racer 2 is a great gaming device, when your playing games like ShadowGun and the others that i gave ✩✩✩✩✩. there do however exist games that will make the device over heat..(hot enough that your fingers hurt while playing) the consequences of this heating on the hardware…. are left up to your imagination.

UPDATE: all games are eventually heating up the phone. Modern Combat just does it a lot faster(probably because its a newer game with more extensive graphics)

The homescreen wallpaper is from here.

Got this game yesterday. decent graphics(environments seemed a bit dull at times on my Tegra2 tablet) and interesting story so far.

Get it on the play store(Rs377.18) at this link.

The controls are a bit simplistic, i find them a bit cumbersome at times.. especially since i’m used to fps control schemes like in Shadowgun or the hybrid ones in games like Tintin.

For other acer iconia(or simillar tablet) users who have been having trouble with the game – You need to have atleast 6gb free(after installing) for the system to be able to run it smoothly. so don’t think that since the game is 2gb, you’ll just free up that much space and install it.. that won’t work i’m afraid.

I’ve also recently(month back) done a factory reset.. and am running Apex launcher which is why the tablet is running so smoothly.

Heres an actual video that shows what the graphics look like as well as how smooth the gameplay can be.. if you free up all that extra space.

Bombshells Hell’s Belles

Found this great game – Bombshells Hell's Belles .. runs beautifully on the Acer Iconia A500..
great graphics.. entertaining gameplay.

heres some grainy video of it running on my tab

The only thing that bugged me was that i kept inadvertantly clicking on stuff that has to be purchased.. and then its a pain navigating back to the game.

give it a try, its a free game the Google Play store.
